This year we are doing the Worlds Greatest Shave in Honor of Adem Crosby, Adem was and continues to be an inspiration to so many!!

Adem Crosby

In early 2011, a week after his 17th birthday and two days after starting year 12, Adem was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia, and rushed to the Royal Brisbane Hospital for urgent life-saving treatment. Adem’s treatment regime meant he would be in and out of hospital on a regular basis so needed to be close to hospital at all times. The Leukaemia Foundation of Queensland provided the family with accommodation at one of their Villages, free of charge, for their entire stay in Brisbane.

I (Brent) was Adems carer in Brisbane, while Lu (mum) looked after Dan  and Miranda back in Buderim. Every weekend, they would travel to Brisbane so we could be together as a family Adem’s treatment consisted of four cycles of very intense chemotherapy, followed by a stem cell transplant, After 9 months living in Brisbane, We finally returned back home to Buderim….Although home, we would travel to Brisbane for weekly doctors appointments

In January 2012 Adem was getting ready to start university and begin his dream of becoming an oncology nurse, but in the first week of February 2012 everything was thrown into disarray…The , the leukaemia was back. We were back to square one, Knowing that things were going to be a lot tougher this time because of all the previous treatment., Adem and I moved back to Brisbane to endure another eight months of grueling treatment. . In late September 2012, Adem was tearfully told the news by his doctor that his leukaemia was incurable.

We moved back to Buderim so the family could spend quality time together, which we did until Adem peacefully passed away on May 4th this year Adem was and continues to be an inspiration to thousands of people. Allways thinking of others even though battling incredible odds himself   Through his illness Adem did everything he could to bring awareness in the community of the huge impact a blood cancer diagnosis has on patients and families. Adems wish was that Team Adem continue to support the Leukaemia Foundation who  truly make such a difference to the patients and families affected by blood cancers. Along with countless other families we are truly grateful for the support of housing, comfort and counsel the Leukaemia Foundation provides.

Please Support Team Adem in 2014 by joining our team or sponsoring us. By doing so you will help us reach our fund raising target and also help many patients and families affected by blood cancers or a blood related disease. You will also be helping keep Adem’s legacy alive.
